Our landscape in East Belfast is punctuated by the tall spires of our churches, but the area also has a rich and often overlooked heritage of small spaces in which people have met and worshipped in their own ways.

Drawing on his larger study of ‘evangelical meeting halls’ across Ulster, Kevin will present an illustrated talk discussing the networks of Gospel Halls, Mission Halls and similar buildings that have been a feature of areas of East Belfast. Kevin will place the halls in a wider Ulster context, explore the earliest halls and their origins, take you through the different types of halls, and argue for the distinctive contribution these interesting places have made to the area.
